Snorkelling In Dibba by Ada





I was just getting in the water for my school camp activity and one of my teachers Mr Hand said Ada if you want I can take a picture of you in front of Snoopy Island and I said yes. 

Why they call this rock Snoopy Island is because the floppy ears at the left the mouth further to the right then keep on going and you find the big tummy and his floppy feet.








I was in the water looking at all the fish and I came upon  what looks like a compound of fish. It made me feel like I was standing in a rainbow.









This is me getting in the freezing water I was freezing even though I was in proper clothes BRRRRRRRR.







  






These are all the fish that live with the sea urchins. OUCH SPIKEY, poor fish :(

Kayaking to the Edge of the "World"

My morning paddle was not as exotic as the title sounds.  The "World" is a series of artificial islands created off the coast of Dubai, roughly in the shape of the World. Within the world there are groups of sand islands each shaped in such a way that they look like one of the continents. It seemed like a good destination for a morning training paddle. France...again

It was a pleasant surprise when I discovered that I had a work conference in Paris in the first week in April.  It seems that after moving to India from Germany that we spend most of our holidays in France. This holiday was slightly different as Lucy has decided that we are not “cool” travel companions so she packed her bags to visit her Aunty Anne and her nephews in Sydney. Kate, Ada and I had the good fortune to be invited to a to the country house of a French friend, Geraud.  His family holiday house is in the Central Massif, the volcanic region in the centre of France which is as remote as it gets in France.  The region has some small ski fields, although it was the very end of ski season, and is primarily known for agriculture, in particular the cheese and cured meats which we sampled at every opportunity. Athens

Not a bad backdrop for an evening drink. When we decided to go to Kalymnos, Lucy was very disappointed that our planned itinerary did not include significant Greek historical sites. She has developed a recent fascination with the Greek Gods, thanks to the Percy Jackson series of books, and was keen to see some relevant sites.  It was easy enough to include Athens, a quick Aegean flight from Kos and a taxi to the city saw us on the roof top bar of The Central hotel enjoying a drink with the illuminated Acropolis in the background.
